Re: throw the hog on the fire.
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 8:29 AMHi Gorma Cu,
I'm a Pagan too. I've been a part of the Pagan Alliance of NWA for quite a while (I'm the president right now), and I do kind of agree with you. But it's really our own fault. I've been trying for years to get Pagans together, to organize events or meetings, and no-one wants to come out. It's either fear, or apathy (or both).
ORFA is an open full-moon circle in Farmington - it's a yahoo group, just go to group.yahoo.com and search for ORFA. Anyone can join.
There is also an alternative (transgendered & alter-sexuality) Pagan yahoo group, but I can't ever find it 'cause I don't know the exact name! Maybe you'll have better luck.
Try to keep a positive attitude. Pagans especially are very careful about who they associate with, and if you want to meet people, they have to trust you. It's underground, for sure. -

Re: throw the hog on the fire.
Wed, January 3, 2007 - 7:17 PMokay , when i wrote this original thread i had just got back from the left coast.... wayyy different world where the right wing is the minority. so now i have come to the realeyesation that i should have written "where are all the heathens?" i know it seems to be the same thing but i dont feel it is. to me the heathens round these parts show up in the light alot more .the freaks and the punkish folk even the rainbow folk(living light not pride) stand up and out.the whole wiccan thing is still strange to me, ive been to many circles some native based some wiccan, they are all cool, a little to costumy wiccans are if you ask me. but noone did. ive been round here goin on a decade now and man everything has gone underground or gone. what atradgedy. oh well viva gentrifacation!!!!! ill have to look up the ofra thing . thanks for the reply and by the looks of the postings no one seems to be interested in this town. see ya

Re: throw the hog on the fire.
Fri, March 2, 2007 - 6:56 AMIf its really true that no one cares for Fayetteville anymore, then that is such a shame. I lived there about 7 years ago and it was really happenin for the alternative society. There was always stuff goin on at the Brown Farm, Markham Hill, the co-op, Wilson Park, the square. I'm sure with the weather changin things will pick up...more live music, outdoor craft fairs, farmers market, art shows etc. I know for sure that the Eureka Jam is comin up April 27 (Eureka Springs.) My good friends Starroy and Jah Roots are playin that little festie (there will be campin.) Also, Starroy will be playin at Georges the next night in Fayetteville. It outta be a really good time...I will definitly be there. Good luck on your search! -

Re: throw the hog on the fire.
Mon, March 5, 2007 - 8:55 AMThat really blows! Yeah I used to live on the farm and at markham hill as well. I'm not too surprised that they're leveling those cabins...most of them are pretty rickety. But I'm really surprised that the farm may shut down. Josh Brown has always been so adament about preserving his property and not selling out (even though he could make millions.) I heard that the warehouse shut down some time ago, which is a total bummer. And as far as ONF goes, well, I dont necessarily support them. I hear they are becoming all corporate and money hungry. Its a far cry from what it was when I worked at the store on Dickson (and in Evelyn Hills for that matter.) I dont know, when Daves on Dickson shut down, that was kind of it for me. I havent visited much since then. However, I am looking forward to seeing whats up when I come in April.
